CSUSB Scholarship Search Instructions.

Off campus (from outside agencies) scholarships are available for search. Scholarship information for off campus scholarships will be updated frequently throughout the year. Feel free to check occasionally for any new scholarships that may have been added. Use the options below to determine your search criteria. Please note that you can search three different ways.

  • Category Search - Scholarships are assigned categories by your schools. This option allows you to identify and search the categories that you feel are most relevant to you.
  • Keyword(s) Search - Your school may assign a keyword to a scholarship. This option allows you to search that keyword field.
  • Description and Name Search - You can simply search the description or name of scholarships to see if they contain words that you might deem suitable (e.g. Biology).

The Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program is the largest program in the nation which is designed to increase the diversity of the pool of qualified faculty candidates. The CDIP will lend participants who are full-time doctoral students up to $10,000 annually to a limit of $30,000 over a five-year period. The recipients may enroll in any approved doctoral program at an accredited university in the United States or abroad. After completion of the doctoral degree, a CDIP participant is extended a 12-month grace period before loan repayments begin. If the participant obtains a full-time instructional faculty position in the CSU, the loan principal and interest are "forgiven" at the rate of 20% for each year of service.   • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA);

  • Enroll at least half-time in an eligible graduate degree; and
  • Demonstrate potential to succeed in graduate school and to complete a graduate degree program in no more than two years as evidenced by undergraduate coursework and letters of recommendation.

 





CSU Trustee's Award for Outstanding Achievement



The William Randolph Hearst Foundation established an endowed scholarship fund in 1984 to honor William Randolph Hearst, founder of the Hearst newspaper chain. In 1999, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation partnered with the CSU Board of Trustees to create the CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement. Contributions from CSU Trustees and private donors increase the value and number of available awards. Special named scholarships will be awarded by the selection committee based on criteria such as studying in the STEM or education fields, veterans, and exemplary community service.

The awards recognize students who:

  • Have overcome adversity, demonstrated financial need
  • Have attributes of merit including superior academic performance, significant personal achievements, and exemplary community service.

Scholarships will be awarded up to the number of funding available. Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate superior academic performance with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the campus Financial Aid Office.
  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time equivalent undergraduate or graduate student in any major field at a CSU campus and remain a CSU full-time equivalent student during the academic year.
Each campus can nominate 2 students but 1 must be a STEM student. Final determination of the recipients will be made by the CSU Chancellor's Office. 

CSUSB nominated students must have the following in their submitted packet to the CO: applicant information form, have a nomination letter from the campus president, official transcripts, a brief personal statement, 2 letters of recommendation (1 must be written by an academic instructor), 1 paragraph biography, photos of the nominee, biographical statement release form and visual audio release form, plus the completed applicant checklist.

  • One outstanding student may be selected each year to receive this award
  • Student must be enrolled in the Graduate Program of National Security Studies in CSUSB's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Eligible graduate students must have taken eight units of graduate coursework
  • Students will be selected based on their academic merit and their contributions and participation in the National Security Studies Program
  • Students must demonstrate interest in a career in national security or a federal agency
  • Preference may be given to active duty or military veterans or military dependants
  • If an eligible student in National Security Studies cannot be selected for any given year, a student majoring in Political Science may be awarded this scholarship

  • Student enrolled in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Demonstrates an interest in anthropology or other social sciences
  • Financial need considered but not essential





Zapletal Charitable Trust Endowed Scholarship (900000002345)



  • Highest priority will be given to students who have financial need and are academically deserving
  • Students whose spouse or parent have been wounded in the line of service or who have lost a parent or spouse after their service was complete in the United States Marine Corp. or any of the United States armed forces or,
  • Students whose parents are veterans or retired from military service or,
  • Students who are veterans of the armed forces or active in the armed forces or,
  • Junior or senior students enrolled in the Army ROTC or Air Force ROTC program
  • Multiple students may be selected based on the number of applicants and student need
